Ethics are the set of rules that tells the acceptable behaviour of an individual while using the internet.One of the common issue of internet ethics is violation of copyrights.Creating duplicates of copyright content without approval of authors and accessing personal information of others without knowing them are against the internet ethics.Internet ethics differentiate between what is right and wrong and it respect the rights and property of others on internet.
What internet ethics says:
1. Everyone needs to accept that internet is not a value free-zone, here values are considered in broader sense and we need to take care while writing or posting content on the web.
2. Internet must be used for chatting with friends and family. Avoid chat with unknown people and forwarding mails to strangers. There is a lot of risk involved in chatting and forwarding e-mails to strangers.
3. Internet must not be used to fool someone by pretending yourself to be someone else. Hiding your own identity to fool others is a crime and it is also sometimes called as identity theft. We will talk more about identity theft in our coming posts.
4. Don't ever use vulgar or inappropriate language while using e-mail,chatting,blogging and social networking and respect others views and never criticize anyone on internet.
5.Never provide personal details like phone numbers, home address, id's, password and even your interests and hobbies to any stranger.They might misuse it and share it with others without your knowledge.
6. Encourage childrens ,students and other people to learn and boost their knowledge from internet and specially parental involvement is necessary when childrens are using internet in order to get them know the ethics of internet and follow the rules.
