Microsoft is currently running 3 major divisions - Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8 and Xbox division and for them they have planned to release a wave of updates for all their different devices and services that focus on bringing them more closer to each other. Codenamed 'Threshold' will bring all Microsoft software platforms and services together and bring better integration and synchronization between them.
A report by Mary Jo Foley from ZDNet indicates that Spring 2015 will be the time for expecting initial wave of such updates. These updates will bring common things to all of Microsoft platforms, for example a common app store for all Windows Platforms. It doesn't matter whether you are on your PC (Obviously with Windows 8.x), Windows Phone 8.x or Xbox console, all your Microsoft data and information will always be with you. That is what Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer mentioned in his statement of focusing on 'One Microsoft' mission.
By that time Microsoft will not sit idle. They are already planning to release codenamed 'Blue' updates for Windows Phone 8.1 and at the same time some of the updates for Windows 8.1, which they named as Windows 8.1 Update 1.
