Screenshot of Skype application on Windows Phone 8Microsoft recently released the updated version of its Skype app on Windows Phone 8. Skype can now be used for sending video messages to your friends. It is truly very late but still the app is getting all major updates which it already have on all other mobile platforms like android and iOS.

You can add video message directly from where you use to type messages. A '+' button on the left side of the keyboard lets you add participants and video message. It looks like shown in the picture below. You can record video message for maximum of 3 minutes.

Bringing to you some more details, Skype on Windows Phone 8 requires at least 512MB of RAM to work properly. Windows Phone 7 devices have not received this useful update, rather it is just for Windows Phone 8 only. Microsoft can soon launch similar update for them also.

You can now use SkyDrive as a text recognition tool. Microsoft updated their SkyDrive web application to include OCR technology into it which scans for possible pictures having text in them. It then automatically extracts all text from it and display it to you whenever next time your see the picture at SkyDrive.com.
