Don't expect Touch ID FIngerprint feature in Apple's previous devices.

With the launch of new iPhone 5S and 5C, Apple suddenly overtook every big launch event held within few days before and after the Apple's event. It was so special that from the last two days, my Facebook home page is mostly covered by iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C news and updates. In between those updates, there was a very important discussion going on. "Whether Touch ID feature in the new iPhone 5S be given to iPhone 5 with the update of iOS 7? The answer is NO?"



First of all make a note that the new Touch ID feature is a hardware feature, not a software one. So update of iOS 7 will not bring any feature like this to your iPhone 5 or any previous iPhone/iPod/iPad model. Bringing the feature in any of the previous device requires complete redesign of the home button on the device, which is technically impossible for Apple.

Apple also said that there new Touch ID feature is safe to use as there is complete control over the fingerprint being scanned and stored in the database for matching. Your fingerprint will not be stored in any of the cloud servers and no app will be able to access it at any cost. There is a special safe place for it in the Processor chip (A7), from where hacking it would be a difficult task for false personalities. On their Press release page, Apple have written that "fingerprint scan will be encrypted before saving it in the secured Enclave inside the A7 chip". "It is never stored on Apple servers or backed up to iCloud" they added. Moreover, Touch ID feature is not restricted just for locking and unlocking the device, but you can make purchases from iTunes store, App store and iBooks store using the same Touch ID feature.

So the sum is that there is now way iPhone 5 users will getting Touch ID feature, but they will get other major functionalities included in the iOS 7 update like control center, notification center, improved multitasking, AirDrop, iTunes Radio and improved SIRI.
