In the intense competition between major mobile operating systems, Android has marked another highest point where it has captured 81% of the total market share in 3Q13. We have then iOS at the second position with 12.9% market share which saw some decline as compared to 14.4 % in the 3Q12 (3rd quarter of 2012). But what was most interesting is the percentage increase in market share for Windows Phone, which jumped to 3.6% from 2% last year (2Q12). This means it increased by 156% and that is really amazing but then also seems very insignificant in comparison to top 2 operating systems.

Operating systems have very long story of how they begun and changes they faced during the time. Companies started with all hardware keys to navigate into the operating system in mobile devices like Nokia, Samsung earlier phones used to be. Then Apple brought touch screen based mobile phones, keeping just one hardware button to access home screen on the device with some added controls like volume, camera and screen lock controls. Navigate in between the operating system by touching, sliding and tapping your fingers on the screen.
