Lenovo surpassed LG and became world's 3'rd largest smartphone maker after Apple and Samsung

Lenovo at 3rd place in smartphone maker race


This was a big turnaround when Chinese PC maker - Lenovo became world's third largest smartphone maker and is just behind Samsung and Apple. Lenovo surpassed Korea's LG Electronics and acquired 3'rd position according to data from Gartner.  Lenovo is all set to perform in as well as outside China and it reality is performing very well. Some of the prominent smartphones from the company like - Lenovo K900 was a big success which drove the company to heights.

According to the data we read on the wall street journal, Lenovo's profit in the last quarter grew 36% to $219.7 as compared to last year. Company has well established itself in China and getting most of the growth potential from there. The lenovo K900 smartphone sales captured a market share of 5.1% as compared to 4.1% of last year. Also 12.9 million shipments of the Lenovo K900 were sold out which marked a jump of 84.5% in just three months which ended at september 30.

In the same report, Samsung seems to have widened its lead from Apple which is still at the second position in the smartphone maker race. Samsung sold 80.4 million units of smartphones while Apple just managed to sold 30.3 million smartphones.

LG which moved down to fourth position still saw 0.7% increase in its market share. As compared to its 4.1% market share of last year, LG has moved to 4.8% market share which might be triggered due to its very latest launch of LG G Flex - LG's first curved smartphone.
