Microsoft skin sensing bezel patent

Microsoft is working on skin sensing bezel technology and in that regard they have filed a patent. Patent includes description of their very new technology wherein bezels will sense the skin and then augment the display according the  information collected from there. Microsoft can bring this bezel sensing technology in the surface tablets which will be a very interesting part. Picture above shows the positioning of touch sensors in the bezels of the device.

Bezel sensing technology is completely a new innovation and if successfully integrated in a device it will open up many new ways of handling a device. For example, in the photo from the same patent file, Microsoft displayed a split keyboard that can adjust itself according to the precise positions of your hands across the bezels.

This will be a completely new horizon for the companies to make more innovative use of this technology and bring more new products that can work on the same technology. Imagine you can start a device just by tapping on its bezels and do several other operations without even touching the display. Patent was titled "Grip Based Device Adaptations" and was originally filed on May 20, 2013.

Tweet that made us aware about this interesting news is shown below.

Well there are many changes taking place in the field of smart gadgets ranging from three-sided display technology to skin sensing bezels technology. It is very clear from these two recent patents by Samsung and Microsoft that smartphones are going to change a lot and the way we use and handle them.
