We all are very familiar to e-mails ,and generally internet users are very much familiar to the e-mails.E-mails are just like the post cards and contain the information to whom they are proposed so they are meant to kept private and personal email ids should not be shared with anyone. Sharing involves a lot of risk and when it comes to security , you have to be very updated with security tactics provided to you by e-mail service provider.
E-mails are important to us as we get all information from our subscribers to which we are subscribed and  also in conversion.

How you are targeted by hackers:

  • Attackers tempt to lure you by offering you a lottery of million dollars through mails ,don't ever try to respond to such mails as many people lost huge amount of money by doing so.
  • Some types of e-mails offer you free gifts and ask for your personal information to claim your gift , this is another way to make you leak out your personal information.
  • Some hackers try to gain your details by guessing your password ,they try all permutation and combination with an individual's personal details ,likes, hobbies ,interests etc. with the help of a software tool to crack your password.
  • Hackers try to get e-mail address and send malicious software code as an attachment with an e-mail.
  • One of the best method used by hackers these days is phishing , they send e-mails that seems to come from legitimate company , bank or any financial institution to which you are associated and asks for your credentials.
  • Some hackers are even around you , they have a close look on your password or your personal details whenever you are typing or searching your papers or even reading your sms.
E-mail security guidelines:

  • Ignore e-mails from strangers and mark them as spam.
  • Avoid opening any link or attachment come from strangers since it may contain a malware or virus that can  harm your computer.
  • Allow e-mails from authorised users by e-mail filtering software.
2-step verification

  • Secure your e-mail account by enabling 2-step verification provided by google and also by providing security questions.
  • Scan attachments with updated antivirus while downloading from e-mails.
  • Don't provide personal details through e-mails as there are chances that information can be viewed as e-mail is passed on through various servers and backup of all e-mails are taken at all servers.
  • Use encryption software to encrypt your message and then e-mail it , so that authorized users can only access it.
