Twitter app for iOS launched an update today which bring features like login verification, better conversation view and few bugs fixes. See the image below which shows the update page on Apple app store.
Login verification feature is the main addition where users can now add an extra level of security to their Twitter account. This is very similar to the two step verification by Google on gmail account.
How it works?
1. After updating you app, go the app and and then to settings page.
2. In the settings page select Login verification option and a new page will be opened. You will see page shown below.
3. If you turn it on, it will notify you with a backup code which you must note down at a safe place. In case you lose your phone, this backup code will help you login your account.
4. When next time you will try to login your Twitter account on any other device, it will send a code to your phone number. After filling the confirmation code you can enter your account.
Why it is necessary?
In today's scenario, your online presence is prone to many known and unknown threats. Adding another protection layer to your Twitter account will just make your presence more safer and better.
